Celebrating 20 Years!
The Floating Men at The Rutledge, Nashville, Tennessee
Labor Day Weekend, September 4 & 5
Twenty years ago, Jeff Holmes and Scot Evans sweet-talked a scrappy young super-hero drummer named
Jeff Bishop into making music with them. The called themselves The Floating Men (it sounded good at the time) and started rehearsing a batch of songs Jeff had been working on. Before long, they were on the road playing only the finest venues and staying in luxury resorts (read: dingy nightclubs and budget motels).
Faced with the prospect of an overly glamorous life, Bishop traded in his drumsticks for a life in China (wouldn't you?) and Scot & Jeff floated on drawing from other Nashville musicians to keep The Floating Men well..., afloat.
20 years and 17 albums later, since that first downbeat in 1990, The Floating Men are still at it (not drowning, floating). Most recently, TFM released acts 1 & 2 of "The Sighing Hours", showcasing some vivid songs and incredible musicianship in that familiar and twisted Floating Men
style. Although the pace has slowed a bit over the years, the recording, the live shows, and the Floatilla rock on.
Join us this Labor Day Weekend, September 4 & 5, at The Rutledge in Nashville, Tennessee to celebrate 20 years of The Floating Men.
